SchlumbergerSema Launches Pre-paid Top-up and M-payment Solutions Using Macalla Software's Technology

 

London, September 24, 2002 - SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited today introduced new solutions using Macalla Software's proven technology for mobile payment and handset-activated pre-paid top-up. The combination of SchlumbergerSema expertise in SIM cards and systems integration coupled with Macalla's award winning software products, will generate a strong offering of new solutions to telecommunication operators worldwide. The solutions have already been selected by a number of customers.

The new solutions will enable operators to increase average revenue per user from wireless data services and to significantly reduce the cost associated with pre-paid subscribers. The mobile pre-paid top-up solution offers a simple and secure way for a subscriber to recharge their prepaid account directly from their mobile phone, anytime, anywhere, while providing substantial cost savings compared to the traditional voucher recharge. It also increases customer loyalty and reduces churn among a traditionally volatile subscriber group.

The mobile payment solution provides a secure and easy way for subscribers to purchase goods and services using their mobile phone. The subscriber can pay using a credit card, debit card or dedicated e-purse, as well as charge purchases to their phone account. This solution is particularly well suited for low value purchases such as ring tones, pictures, audio clips and parking tickets. Multi-device and multi-channel compatible with security equal to that of banking applications, this solution makes mobile payment a reality for all subscribers.
