Axalto Solution Enhances Subscriber Experience and Strengthens Relationship with the Operator

Innovative Embedded Portal Solution Leverages Smartphone Multimedia Capabilities

 
Amsterdam, February 9, 2005 - Axalto (Euronext: NL0000400653 – AXL) will demonstrate at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes (France), a new Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) solution designed to improve the overall experience of mobile phone users and to greatly support the operator in its service strategy. The solution is based on an innovative implementation of a Web server on the SIM, that hosts the operator’s service portal and secure services.
 

By simply clicking on an icon in the main menu of their handset, subscribers reach a unique portal that provides easy access to ALL their services wherever they are hosted – on the network, the handset or the SIM. With this solution, subscribers enjoy a consistent experience independently of the device: they carry their SIM - and its hosted portal - from one handset to another.

For the operator, the new Axalto SIM solution ensures that subscribers connect to its service portal at the first connection - securing its position in the service value chain.

In addition, subscribers are able to access existing SIM services such as information on demand, mobile top-up or m-banking applications - while fully utilizing multimedia handset capabilities, such as color and hyperlinks instead of the traditional black and white menu interface.

An important long-term advantage of the SIM for wireless operators is that it enables to deliver a consistent user experience regardless of the handset used. The additional continuity of services delivered by Axalto innovative solution will help stimulate service use and maintain loyalty independently of the mobile device, a critical concern in today’s highly competitive market.
