Easier social networking for Argentinians
Argentinians can now visit
Facebook from
any type of handset – without a data plan. Personal, one of the
country’s three mobile networks, has teamed up with Gemalto to introduce
the Facebook for SIM software application. Now, the network’s 17.4
million subscribers can check their feeds, view friend requests and read
messages, all from the phone’s main screen.

FleetWare
is a new remote monitoring solution for tracking assets that don’t have
a power source. A collaboration between
Cinterion, the global
leader in cellular M2M modules, and remote asset management solution
provider Ayantra, FleetWare integrates Cinterion’s tiny BG2
module to meet the small size requirements necessary for tracking
nonpowered assets such as shipping containers. It cuts costs by
providing remote management of assets that once required regular service
visits.

subscribers since its launch in February 2010. To maintain that momentum,

Japan
LTE is big in Japan
Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology
is going to revolutionize mobile connectivity in the next few years, and Japan is leading the way. Mobile network operator NTT DOCOMO
is deploying Gemalto’s LTE technology solution for Xi, Japan’s first
wireless connectivity service based on LTE. The service covers the major
urban centers of Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, with plans to reach 70% of the
Japanese population by March 2015.
