Answering the new evolution of the German healthcare system (Telematic Healthcare infrastructure), Gemalto has been recently awarded to supply and personalize 35 Million new e-Health Cards (eGK) for German Citizens. In conjunction, for healthcare professionals, Gemalto proposes a tailored terminal able to fulfill today’s use as well as tomorrow’s requirements.

Today, Sealys German Healthcare is immediately operational with the actual system. Just a simple USB key plugging and it will migrate to fulfill all the new features of the healthcare on-line infrastructure when ready.

• In “eHealth BCS” mode, the terminal supporting the Basic Command Set Is connected with the doctor’s PC instantly through USB or Serial (RS232) connection and can read actual KVK and future eGK cards.
   
• In “eHealth” mode, the terminal, compliant with the SCITT specification, is connected via Ethernet for on-line services. Optionally, healthcare professional biometrical identification as well as contactless smart cards services for comfort signature can be added through USB connections.
