Hospital use case
Health
care professionals working in hospitals and clinics know the importance of
securing their work stations and the sensitive patient data information they
carry, without sacrificing mobility within the work premises.
The case of roaming professionals in hospitals
Health care professionals need to first prove their identities by authenticating
using a smart card and a Prox smart card reader when logging onto their work
stations or network.
- They insert their professional health cards in the Prox reader's slot
and enter their PIN code. This is the primary authentication done using the
contact mode.
- The contactless chip of the card also receives the hospital's access
rights set for a specific user (for example, the log-on duration, number of
authentication tries onto other workstations using contactless mode,
physical access rights )
- Secondary authentication onto other workstations are then done by using
the contactless mode only (roaming usage in hospitals)
Advantages
- Faster authentication and secure work station roaming
- Better hygiene and limited stock handling. There's no need to touch the
keyboard to type the PIN by simply using the contactless interface.
