Securing multiple Workstations with one Logon
Simplifying
the workstation In the hustle and bustle of the trading floor, time is of the essence .The trader’s workspace requires that each individual trader have access to, and run applications on, up to 6 different PCs. And there’s precious little time for chasing around all those PCs, securing authentication on each one.
They need a simple yet highly secure authentication solution to synchronize logon, logout and desktop locking on several workstations to comply with regulations, increase sales efficiency and speed, all of which are critical to the traders’ job.

Traders authenticate themselves on a “master” PC using their corporate PKI badge. Their other machines, known as “slaves”, are configured to use the smart card inserted on the master workstation. Once the logon is done, each slave has access to the smartcard certificate from the card attached to the master and can carry out a full smart card logon. There is no need for the user to re-input their PIN, which has been securely transmitted from the master to the slave.
Once authenticated, the user can authorize a range of actions from the Master workstation to the Slaves including Logon, Logoff, Restart, Lock, Unlock, Shutdown and the smart card can be used from any application running on any machine in the group. The trader manages cluster configuration through a standalone console.
The user can also benefit from a transparent screen lock function. This feature
developed by Gemalto, locks the workstation with a transparent non moveable, non
closable window. The running applications are still visible but with no possible
interaction.
When the card is removed from the master PC, all the screens display a session
locked dialog and when the card is inserted and a correct PIN entered, sessions
in all the PCs in the group are unlocked without any further user intervention.
Protiva One4all is a complete, standalone solution that is installed directly on the client’s workstation.
