Gemalto ePassports for Cote d’Ivoire

Gemalto has clinched an exclusive five-year contract to deliver digital security technology for Ivorian ePassports. Under the contract, Gemalto will supply Sealys eTravel Inlays, the secure devices embedding its advanced secure electronic passport software technology, to integrator Zetes. It will also supply Sealys eTravel, a highly-secure OS with advanced cryptographic features running on a large-capacity contactless microprocessor.

Over one million passports are currently in use in Cote d’Ivoire and the government intends to roll out the first electronic passports from June 2008 onwards, with a view to renewing them all by end-2009.

The Ivorian authorities plan to incorporate the electronic capability in all new travel documents.
