Czech eID card goes live
Gemalto is supporting STC, the Czech State Printing Works of Securities and main
contractor of the project, for the national roll-out of Electronic Identity
Cards. The company has signed a multi-year contract for the deployment of
interoperable multi-application e-ID cards in the Republic.
The national ID card will serve as a travel document in all EU countries for all citizens. The new credit-card sized eID card embeds the IAS ECC application which will permit digital signature as well as user's identification and authentication.
Gemalto is providing its Sealys secure digital identity solution from its European manufacturing and competency center.
The new Czech National eID is part of the eGovernment policy.
National rollout started on January 2, 2012.
