Social security and healthcare cards
Germany:
In 2007, Germany launched a second generation health card that covers:
- An insurance attestation,
- Information on medical prescriptions for medicinal interactions,
- Emergency data,
- A European Healthcare Insurance Certificate to cover healthcare costs
when traveling.
- 80 million smart cards to be issued, including 370,000 healthcare
professional cards.
