Mobile
TV is a generic term used to describe the delivery of video content to a
mobile phone handset.
Mobile TV users will be able to watch the programs they know: sports events, favorite shows, newscasts, etc. wherever they may be thanks to the combination of the portability of their handset and the wireless delivery. Combined with video on demand, this will usher in a new era of convenience. Mobile TV users won't have to go home, or go anywhere in particular in order to view their program, and they will even be able to choose the time when they want to watch some types of programs.
But as mobile phone handsets become increasingly multi-function, Mobile TV will offer more than just an "on-the-go" TV experience. Interactivity and personalization will change the way we view TV programs.
So
does Mobile TV spell the end for traditional television? Probably not. Mobile TV
may replace TV in some situations, but most likely it will act as a complement
rather than a replacement for traditional television.
