As
with many new technologies, 18-34 year olds are the most likely to begin
using Mobile TV. Not only are they curious and sometimes passionate
about new technology, but they are already comfortable with podcasting,
sending text messages and making use of non-voice services on their
mobile phones.
An even younger generation of teens and children are likely candidates as well if they find the sort of content they can easily share with others: short humorous pieces. This group is also more likely to adapt to the smaller screen used in mobile TV.
Business people who travel are another group who will find Mobile TV attractive. Often away from home, and wanting to stay informed, they will appreciate being connected and having "anywhere" access to breaking news.
Finally, Nokia reports that recent studies show minority groups in the
US take up mobile TV service at a higher rate than mobile phone
subscriptions. This trend could be leveraged with programs from their
home country and in their native language, and could spread to migrant
workers as well if the offerings were made at an affordable price.
