Welcome to our third edition of the Gemalto EMEA Channel Newsletter and the first one of 2008. We take this opportunity to wish all of you every success in the coming months.

This newsletter is primarily aimed at Gemalto channel partners, but we also circulate it to our customers, prospective customers and technology partners, as there are many topics of interest to this wider audience. The highlights of this newsletter are the signing of a first customer for the Allynis Device Administration Service (DAS) and the significant amount of co-marketing activity currently going on and planned in the UK. Finally, the dates and place of this year’s Gemalto Partner Forum have been fixed!

·   The 2008 edition of the Gemalto Partner Forum will take place in Lisbon in Portugal from May 5 to May 7. We plan  to invite our leading partners to a relaxing location where we can exchange ideas and information in an informal atmosphere.  

·   Following the launch of Allynis Device Administration Services (DAS) at Cartes 2007, there has been a lot of interest amongst the channel partner community.  Smartjac, Gemalto's distributor in the Nordics, has already signed up its first customer who is SYSteam, a turnkey-solution IT supplier. SYSteam has equipped the entire staff at their Falkenberg office with Gemalto .Net smart cards for secure logical and physical access, and is using DAS to issue and administer them. More information about DAS in available on both  gemalto.com (limited information) and the Partners Secure Site  (sales & technical documents plus white paper).   

·    Three webinars were held for partners in December and February 2008 on the topic of Support and Maintenance and Protiva provisioning. These process oriented webinars explained who does what in the “order to delivery” and the “support and maintenance” processes (Gemalto, Distributor, VAR, customer). The documents presented during these Webinars can be found on the Partners Secure Site. 

·    New technical training sessions were recently held on Gemalto premises (Meudon and La Ciotat) and in the premises of one of our UK partners IQ-Sys. Both were well attended and the number of Gemalto certified professionals now stands at over 50.  Both the sales and technical training courses have recently been enriched with new content on the Smart Enterprise Guardian (SEG) and DAS.

•  In the context of Microsoft IDA solutions portfolio range, a demonstration has been jointly built between Microsoft and Gemalto and installed at the MTC Envisioning Centers of Microsoft in France and Germany. It aims at showing how the addition of smart cards for strong authentication can improve business workflow and create real ROI for the customer. It is now available for any customers willing to see it.
   

•  ISA Server 2004 and 2006 supported
  It’s official ! Gemalto Strong Authentication Server (SA Server) is now listed as being fully integrated with ISA Server to provide 2-factor strong authentication for secure access to VPN’s, Outlook Web Access, SharePoint and other Web servers. SA Support for Microsoft ISA Servers
   

 Citrix:

• Gemalto and Devon IT, the fastest growing provider of thin client terminals, have announced a new joint solution to increase patient information security and clinician efficiency within healthcare facilities. Gemalto .NET cards  are used to securely log on and begin or resume work at the workstation in seconds.  The solution helps healthcare organizations increase productivity, reduce IT support costs and comply with the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

•  Gemalto has appointed a new Citrix Global Relationship Manager. His job, upstream, will be to lead the marketing effort to make the fit between Gemalto's Protiva solution and Citrix' solution portfolio as tight as possible, whilst at the same time working downstream with the local Citrix Business development team in EMEA, lead by Jerome Soufflot who is in charge of driving Gemalto's Citrix related business forward.

Co-Marketing activities

• Gemalto attended the Retail Business show in Olympia London with IQ-Sys Re-seller Bristol Office Machines (BOM) who are a new GCP in the UK. BOM have their own application CLUE 2  which provides investigative software to the Police forces in the UK and this application is to be secured in the future with Protiva.Net . The show was therefore an opportunity to enhance awareness of CLUE2 in the Marketplace and to emphasise that it will be enhanced with secure remote access technology. A lot of interest was shown and some solid leads identified.
   

• Gemalto co-organized three workshops  around Microsoft ILM  in the UK this month with the objective of generating lead opportunities for our partners and demonstrating how the Gemalto Protiva offer is tightly integrated with that of ILM from Microsoft.

  •  The primary source of sales, marketing and technical information for all Gemalto partners with a signed contract is the Partners Secure Site

• Citrix –Vertical Market

Gemalto will team up with new UK Distributor IQ-Sys  to attend a number of Citrix Partner exchange events in March. These events are a great opportunity to reinforce ties that have already been made with several Citrix VARS belonging to the IQ-SYS distribution network and to present the Gemalto Protiva value proposition to prospective VARs.

The 3 events will happen in :
March 4 : Dublin
March 6 : Ascot
March 11 : Manchester

Gemalto will be a Gold Sponsor at the next “HIT 2008 “ show that will happen in Paris from May 27 to May 30. HIT 2008 is the top exhibition in France for IT solutions aimed at hospitals. Gemalto IAM will share space on Citrix’s main booth with a couple of partners and will show its solutions for the Healthcare market.
 

• Microsoft

The Microsoft IDA Technical summit (formerly known as “PKI Summit”) organized by Microsoft will take place form the 26^th till the 28^th of February in Amsterdam. It’s a yearly event gathering about 50 EMEA Microsoft Identity & PKI key experts. Gemalto will be one of only two external companies invited by Microsoft. A key goal of the partnership with Microsoft is to ensure that Gemalto solutions work seamlessly within relevant pieces of the Microsoft infrastructure (ie ILM and Forefront) and this summit is an excellent forum to showcase what has been achieved.

• CeBIT

Gemalto will have its own booth this year at Cebit (March 4^th-9^th) and shall play host to its Distributor partners LWP and Cryptas. In addition, Gemalto will be present on the Microsoft booth demonstrating the tight integration of Gemalto.NET with Microsoft’s Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM)

•  Infosec UK

Gemalto has designed a partner booth to welcome its major partners in the UK, CPS and IQSYS. Each parter will present a specific aspect of Gemalto Security solutions:
CPS focusing on the Corporate badge solutions and IQSYS on the enhancement of Citrix infrastructure from a security perspective.
