Welcome to our second edition of the Gemalto EMEA Channel Newsletter

This newsletter is primarily aimed at Gemalto partners, but we also circulate it to our customers, prospective customers and technology partners, as there are many topics of interest to this wider audience.

This month, the major news in terms of product announcements, is the launch of the Smart Enterprise Guardian and Device Administration Services (DAS) - two offers definitely aimed at being sold through the gemalto partner network. You will also find information about our partner network consolidation and the increasing promotion actions.

  • Gemalto EMEA Enterprise Partners ready for 2008 :
    Gemalto has organized the 2nd Partner forum, entirely dedicated to the enterprise security business, in Dubrovnik, Croatia. This unique event has gathered Gemalto EMEA most significant partners.

     During 2 days, the participants shared information regarding market trends, Gemalto partners’ strategy and program. They attended workshops and plenary sessions, received keynote presentations from our Partners on major successes, and participate in hands-on demos presented by Gemalto experts, and had numerous networking occasions. In spite of a heavy planning, all the attendees had time to exchange with their industry peers while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Some business opportunities are already identified as a result of these fruitful exchanges .

  • Cartes Exhibition (Paris) – Partner Booth
    During this major event in the Card industry, 3 partners were presenting their expertise in the field of Security applications on Gemalto booth. For 3 days, NIS, Identia and Keynectis have been very busy demonstrating various applications to customers and prospects

  • Gemalto has joined SafeBoot’s Certified Token Partners Program. 
    SafeBoot, developer of the SafeBoot® solutions and a market leader in mobile data encryption technology ,  is gradually adding support to Gemalto’s market-leading suite of smart cards, smart card readers and USB security tokens. Through this agreement, SafeBoot and Gemalto leverage their respective technologies to authenticate a user at the earliest stage possible (pre-boot) and to protect sensitive data files, be they stored on a file drive, network computer or a mobile device.
     

  • New trained and certified partners 
    In October, Gemalto ran hands-on technical training sessions on Protiva/.NET and Classic client solutions in the South of France.
    These training sessions well attended and resulted in the award of 8 solution certification to Gemalto Partner technical specialists. Furthermore, an additonal 9 delegates representing 6 partners attended the 2 day sales training session.
     

  • Gemalto certified partner initiative.

    This program is dedicated to Distributors recruiting VARs and Resellers willing to resell Gemalto products and offer significant benefits in terms of training and marketing support. Feel free to contact us to get more information..

  • Gemalto  Gold certifed partner  
    Gemalto is now confirmed as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. With this partner level, Gemalto joins a very select group of Microsoft partners by demonstrating expertise with Microsoft technologies and proven ability to meet customers’ needs. This designation is a reflection of our close relationship with Microsoft and our commitment to integrating our digital security products with Microsoft technology.  The partner benefits at this level will reinforce Gemalto’s commitment to our VARs in providing enhanced and tightly integrated digital security solutions for their customers that protect identities and secure data. The digital security products that Gemalto has integrated with the Microsoft platform include the Gemalto .NET smart token, the Protiva Strong Authentication Server and other Protiva credential devices that use either one time password (OTP) or digital certificates. Microsoft is not only a key partner for Gemalto, it is also a customer.  Microsoft employees worldwide use the Gemalto .NET smart token technology.
     

  • GITEX 2007 - Gemalto-Microsoft MEA Global Agreement :
    Gemalto was present  at Gitex 2007  to demonstrate corporate badge and identity solutions. During the trade show, Gemalto Identity and Access management reached  a global agreement with Microsoft Africa & Middle East to deploy a joint corporate badge solution. 
    As previously in Europe, Microsoft & Gemalto are to promote together Gemalto  .NET smart card and ILM solution (Identity Lifecycle Manager) on the MEA market. 
     

  • Microsoft Consultant training :
    Gemalto organised in UK the first .NET Product Briefing Days held on the 27th and 28th of September for Microsoft consultants.  Given the nature of the very positive feedback on this training, Gemalto is hoping to arrange sessions like these on an annual basis:
    " I thought the guys were brilliant - full of information and advice. "

  • Q3 Microsoft Channel partners workshops supported by Gemalto :
     

    • A roadshow was run with Quest in France and Luxemburg to show the integration of .Net Solutions in Identity solutions management including Microsoft ILM: Webcast presentation

    • A workshop with Microsoft and PI Services has been held mid September in Paris. Around 45 persons attended this seminar where Gemalto and partners showed the Strong authentication implementation with Microsoft IAG/ISA solutions portfolio

    • Gemalto sponsored on Oct 11 in Microsoft 's London offices “the Strong authentication market event” with key UK Microsoft partners such as Oxford Computer Group, Evidian and Omada
       

  • Everything you need to know about Microsoft and Gemalto  .NET solutions : Microsoft and Gemalto  have created an extranet site which is a very rich depository containing everything that partners need to offer their customers Windows-based security solutions that use our .NET smart cards.   • DEC Europe :
    Gemalto was present in DEC Europe Event. DEC audience was Microsoft Customers and Partners oriented (decision makers and IT Leaders) Gemalto promoted IAM offer to key customers such as a demonstration of SafesITe with Gemalto .NET for SmartCard logon and digital signatures usage.
     

  • Microsoft IT Forum Barcelona :
    Gemalto attended the Microsoft IT Forum in November 2007. This is the annual EMEA event for the Microsoft IT community with more than 5000 delegates. Gemalto had a booth and presented Enterprise IAM solutions around .NET Smart card including the new SEG offer which was launched in parallel at Cartes 2007. Microsoft performed a couple of conferences on ILM (Identity Lifecycle Management ) including the support of the Gemalto .NET Smart card.

  • Protiva Smart Enterprise Guardian represents a new category of multi-purpose USB devices that IDC has termed Portable Personal Security Devices (PPSD). In addition to PIN-protecting up to 2 GB of data on a USB drive, it uses smart card technology for strong authentication, digital signature and file encryption. Smart Enterprise Guardian is the first and only device that delivers secure portable memory with hardware-based encryption, Gemalto OTP strong authentication, and PKI services using Microsoft .NET technology. Support for the device is built into Windows Vista and also is available as a Microsoft update for XP and W2000 systems .

  • Allynis Device Administration Service (DAS) is a Web-based provisioning, administration and support service for all Gemalto strong authentication devices based on .NET technology. It is hosted and maintained by Gemalto and it enables partners to offer DAS services to their customers through a unique Web portal that is customized with their branding. DAS is ideal for small and medium size businesses because it enables administrators and end-users to perform routine issuance, administration and device management services.

Co-Marketing activities

  • Protiva H2 Marketing campaign.
    On October, 9 Gemalto has organized a webcast. focusing on Gemalto Strong Authentication within Microsoft's Security Ecosystem. The goals were to educate customers on how to best solve their security challenges using strong authentication and provide the partners with an opportunity to sell strong authentication solutions and value-added services from Gemalto. More than 300 participants from various countries have taken part in this event and feedback was very good. We plan to have other sessions in 2008 on different topics and we will inform you about the exact dates shortly.

  • Gemalto and Azlan, follow-up.
    In H2 2008 we have defined focused marketing action items to promote Gemalto products and solutions to Azlan Resellers and Vars. Various push emails, ads in Techdata magazine and Solutions catalogue, as well as unique bundles with lap top manufacturers enable us to generate business opportunities and increase Gemalto visibility as a brand.
     

  • Infosec Sweden with Smartjac Gemalto and its partner Smartjac recenty exhibited together at InfoSec Stockhom. The objective of our presence there was to showcase  the services provided through Protiva Instant badge issuance which handles the full issuance process for a Gemalto .NET card with a user photo and a certificate from a Windows CA. Microsoft ILM was shown managing the card. The show was judged to be a success based on the large amount of interest generated and contacts made.
        

  • Infosec Netherlands with Aesys: Gemalto also exhibited at another Infosec show last month, this time in Amsterdam with Aesys. The objective of  being at the show was to introduce Aesys as Gemalto Distributor for Netherlands and to promote the .NET environment. A number of useful leads were generated for Aesys to qualify and develop.
