Gemplus Launches EMV Migration Package for Financial Institutions GemShare Pack and GemBanking CaseTM offer four essential components for EMV migration : cards, personalization, consulting and interactive training tool



Munich , 6 june 2001 – Gemplus, the leading provider of smart card based solutions announces the launch of GemShare Pack and GemBanking CaseTM. These two solutions are part of the full range of Gemplus' EMV migration offer.

GemShare Pack will help Europay and MasterCard member banks and card issuers to easily migrate from magnetic stripe to EMV compliant smart card technology.

GemShare Pack is a complete EMV solution complying with Europay and MasterCard's EMV specifications. It includes:


GemShare cards: EMV Debit/Credit cards based on the M/Chip lite specifications
Software for card personalization allowing banks to change the EMV parameters as well as customized data in their smart cards.
Gemplus consulting services to ensure banks and card issuers benefit from support at every step on their way to smart card migration.

GemBanking Case™ is a software environment dedicated to EMV specifications enabling banks to better understand EMV. This interactive training tool permits the visualization of all the steps of an EMV transaction with different levels of complexity. GemBanking CaseTM offers a customer-focused solution adapted to a bank's level of EMV comprehension. This tool runs on a windows platform and uses a connected smart card reader.

It contains two modules :


Payment process : this simulates an EMV terminal as well as the Issuer's server conducting a complete EMV transaction with details of every step.
GemXplorer : the content of any EMV card can be visualized in this module.
