Factory proposition
3GSM World Congress, Cannes, 18th February 2002 - Gemplus International
S.A (Euronext: Sicovam 5768 and NASDAQ: GEMP), the world's leading provider
of smart card-enabled solutions today announced the launch of its ARPU
Factory, providing mobile operators with the industry's most comprehensive
platform of solutions. The ARPU Factory consists of four separate suites
of solutions focused on delivering operators tools to understand end-user
needs, improve customer care, automate CRM, help content delivery and
secure wireless transactions.
As the wireless telecom market matures with new technologies and services
on the horizon, operator's short-term objectives remain focused on reducing
cost and maximizing ROI to generate revenue from existing customer bases.
Proactively identifying subscriber needs and translating these needs into
delivered services that generate revenue remains a top priority for mobile
operators.
Within the ARPU Factory, subscriber profiling is enabled real-time with
SIM-based agents that connect seamlessly to a marketing automation engine
that selects campaign offers based on pre-defined financial objectives.
As new mobile applications and services will be the mainstay of promoted
offers, Gemplus will deliver, directly and through third parties, SIM-based
end-user applications. The ARPU Factory then helps operators move on to
target the right services and offers utilizing the latest Over-The-Air
(OTA) delivery methods to upgrade and sell subscriptions remotely and
securely. This further reduces costs and time to market and constantly
increases the opportunities for generating revenue.
"The ARPU Factory helps mobile operators retain, enhance and build
closer relationships with their end-users. Content and services are delivered
in an environment of trust and convenience", commented Philippe Vallée
Telecom Business Unit Manager.
The four elements of Gemplus' ARPU Factory consist of:
- Customer Management Solutions - Solutions to help operators understand
end-user needs and make the most of each customer interaction
- Application Development tools- Working primarily with open, Java-based
operating systems, Gemplus provide developers with tools to create Java
Card applications for GSM, 3G, CDMA
- End-User Applications- For continued business success in a market
where wireless data services will contribute a growing share of ARPU,
off-the-shelf applications are provided in this suite
- Delivery Services- By combining wireless technologies, Java and the
Internet, applications reach subscribers in the most convenient way
"Reducing churn and increasing revenue from an existing customer
base is today the key aspect for mobile operators. This was not the case
about 18 months ago. Mobile operators need to understand and build closer
relationships with existing customers. The short-term concern for operators
is how to generate revenue. CRM will play a vital role from now on and
Gemplus is offering this today. This suite of solutions will allow Gemplus
to consolidate its market position." Comments Anoop Ubhey Frost &
Sullivan Smart Card Industry Analyst
Gemplus' ARPU Factory solutions will best leverage the SIM's capability
to be the intelligent mini-computer with unique profiling capabilities.
Operators have the option of building an entire platform of solutions
from any component of the ARPU Factory suite to benefit from reducing
churn, automating CRM and increasing up-selling or cross-selling promotions
that will give increasingly high rates of ROI.
