T-Mobile selects Gemplus’ GemXplore Generations as the next 3G SIM platform for the Group

Gemplus selected as exclusive development partner by the T-Mobile Group for their next generation SIM Card Platform. In choosing GemXplore Generations, T-Mobile stands to benefit from reduced costs, increased personalization and greater flexibility for new service deployment

Luxembourg, 26 May 2005, Gemplus International S.A. (Euronext: LU0121706294 - GEM and NASDAQ: GEMP), the world’s leading provider of smart card based solutions, today announces its selection by T-Mobile, one of the largest operator galaxies, to provide its new GemXplore Generations operating system as the basis for future card and service deployment for their customers.

GemXplore Generations responded to T-Mobile’s requests by complying with the latest multimedia features and standards releases, both of which can be updated over the air at any stage of the SIM lifecycle. This reduces time-to-market and increases the value of the SIM as a platform for future service updates and deployment. GemXplore Generations offers the flexibility necessary for T-Mobile to license the Operating System and outsource personalization in a highly secure way.
