Gemplus and American Greetings partner to provide operators with original content for their multimedia service offerings

Luxemburg and 3GSM World Congress, 13 February 2006, Gemplus International S.A. (Euronext: LU0121706294 - GEM and NASDAQ: GEMP), the world’s leading provider of smart card based solutions, today announces a new partnership with leading internet content provider, American Greetings Interactive, the new media subsidiary of American Greetings Corporation.

American Greetings Interactive, the new media subsidiary of American Greetings Corporation, is the first major content provider to take advantage of the .sim as a new distribution channel. The new platform, presented at 3GSM World Congress, will be loaded with original, mobile video content from AG Interactive – including Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model© programs. It will also include previews of the latest content items, created specifically for mobile handsets, from AGI licences such as Carebears©, the GREENZ©, and Urban Skull©.

“AG Interactive is willing to explore innovative delivery mechanisms to distribute content to mobile users” said Francis Cohen, VP Europe for American Greetings Interactive. “By partnering with leading artists and athletes, we bring the best entertainment to the mobile genre and we’re happy to present this content on the brand-new .sim provided by Gemplus.”

“The .sim offer has been designed for easily connecting the subscriber to the global operator services ecosystem but also to offer the operator with a new support for distributing event linked content or applications in a segmented way,” said Philippe Vallée, Chief Technology Officer, Gemplus. “We are proud to promote this new distribution platform with innovative content provided by American Greetings Interactive. This partnership is the first step of building a turn key solution for operators with original and various contents”.

Gemplus and AG Interactive are demonstrating this new .sim platform at the 3GSM world congress, Hall 8, B08-B09, 13-16 February 2006 at Barcelona.
