Prox Chipset   In Production

The core of your ISO14443 and MIFARE contactless reader

Prox Chipset is made of two integrated circuits which are the heart of your contactless reader.
  • The Radio Frequency (RF) module handles the RF modulation, the lowest layers of the ISO 14443 standard and the MIFARE security.
  • The digital module embeds the Gemalto Prox technology contactless firmware loaded in Flash memory. This firmware takes in charge the upper layers of the standard and the communication with the host processor.

With the Gemalto Prox Chipset, the contactless technology is accessible to non-RF specialists. The duration, cost and risk level of the contactless reader development are drastically reduced. Therefore, the reader time-to-market is fully mastered.

Compatibility

Gemalto is actively participating to all the international standards Working Groups. Therefore its contactless readers comply with all the major contactless market specifications such as:

  • Proximity payment: PayPass V1.0 level 1

  • Identity: ICAO - EAC MRTD

  • Access Control: FIPS 201 / PIV and MIFARE

  • Mass Transit: MIFARE, Calypso / Innovatron and ITSO.

The Gemalto Prox technology is fully compliant with the ISO 14443 type A and B contactless standard. Therefore it also accesses any NFC devices operating as a smart card as described in the ISO 21481 standard.
Prox readers read / write the
MIFARE family cards such as the Ultralight, Classic 1 K / 4 K, SmartMX and DESFire cards. The MIFARE Application Directory (MAD) is also supported and provides a fast and simple way to read the data stored into the card.
