Helping citizens to travel freely and securely
 After securing travel documents using electronic microprocessors, country
authorities main aim is now to secure borders and deploy systems able to read
and verify ePassport authenticity. At the same time, countries are facing a
strong increase in the number of air passengers (+5% in 2006) and a clear need
to facilitate passenger processing without compromising security.That’s where Gemalto expertise comes into play with Coesys eBorder Gate, an automated border control gate developed in tight collaboration with an European country. This solution applies automatic and systematic highly secure controls. At the same time, it slashes inspection time and human interventions, allowing authorities to cope with an increased number of travelers and to focus on potential suspects. Since manual inspection will continue, Gemalto is also introducing the Coesys eBorder Station, designed for fast manual inspection, which offers comprehensive checks and is ideally suited for small to medium-sized checkpoints.
