Gemalto to supply Polish ePassports
In
August 2006, Gemalto announced it will be supplying its ePassport solution for
Polish electronic passports, and first deliveries began in July 2006. This
electronic passport embeds Gemalto's ePassport technologies and under the
agreement with Polish state printers PWPW, Gemalto will provide its Sealys
eTravel Inlays for the new travel documents.
A successful pilot phase of over 3 000 diplomatic ePassports took place earlier this year and Poland started issuing ePassports at the end of August, in compliance with EU regulations.
