Gemalto’s Electronic Passport Obtains Security Certification

In November 2006, Gemalto was awarded the Common Criteria EAL4+ certificate by the DCSSI, France’s information systems security authority, in recognition of the high level of security provided by its AXSEAL V2CC ePassport.

The EAL4+ certificate is a recognized security assessment standard. It certifies compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Basic Access Control specifications, which ensures that data stored on the chip is secure.

The certification also validates a high level of resistance to attacks as requested by the European Union, and defined by the German Federal Office for Information Security, which provides security expertise to European and international standardization bodies.

The certified Gemalto ePassport meets all the pre-requisites of today's government requests: privacy protection, sophisticated data storage, maximum flexibility, interoperability, security and resistance to counterfeiting.

Gemalto supplies a range of travel document solutions which include issuance and personalization, document management systems, enrolment and border control.
