Bringing sense to mobile/PC convergence

Gemalto recently announced the selection of its UpTeq Smart Dongle by Orange Business Services for the field test of their USB-Connect services on the French Business Market.  Targeted to nomad workforces, home workers and travelers, USB-Connect allows Orange customers to use their PC as a business phone line, wherever broadband internet access is available, but while keeping their regular Orange phone number, voice mail and contacts.

Allynis Managed Services - Our figures speak louder than words

It’s one of our best kept secrets but Gemalto directly manages the SIM cards and services of more than 30 million mobile users. In 2007, we delivered 60 projects to 45 customers for re-branding, roaming optimization, service deployment, etc. Through close work with our telecom customers we now update over 20 million SIM cards each month while 14 customers rely on us to manage 30 million users’ personal data such as their phonebook. These are just a few examples of our services to help operators deliver value to users with not only minimum complexity and investment but also an easy upgrade.

Making NFC services easier to use

On 22 February 2008, the ETSI Smart Card Platform Technical Committee (TC SCP) approved the specification for a dedicated interface, the so-called "Host Controller Interface" (HCI).  HCI will make NFC services easier to use by enabling consumers to access all the secure applications on their handset, no matter where they are stored, through one common interface.  This decision completes the standards necessary for handset makers to begin production of NFC-enabled phones in large volumes.

Roaming: traffic redirection over the SIM

Maximize roaming revenues with a SIM/OTA & SS7-based solution for traffic re-direction while offering the best quality of service for end-users. The LinqUs Roaming Director is a two-level solution: real-time OTA updates of the PLMN file and batch campaigns combined to the SS7 network-based roaming server. It allows operators to steer outbound roamers to preferred networks dynamically, taking into account business rules. In an increasingly complex roaming environment, Gemalto offers this combined solution as a complete end-to-end steering service or can integrate necessary modules within existing solutions.

LinqUs Roaming Director enables operators to redirect up to 90% of roaming traffic onto their preferred networks.  Click here for more information...
