The new secure electronic passport launched in September 2013 is key to delivering the best traveler's experience for Azerbaijan's citizens. In addition, citizens with the new biometric passport no longer need a visa to enter the Schengen zone.
The new biometric passport is in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and comes with the enhanced polycarbonate datapage manufactured and designed in Switzerland by Trüb AG, now part of Gemalto.
The enhanced polycarbonate datapage developed by the company contains an integrated contactless micro-processor and is designed to last for 10 years.
A Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) system is being used to create nationwide certificates that protect the sensitive information (the passport holder's personal data, a facial image and two fingerprints) on the microprocessor.
The company is also supporting the Republic of Azerbaijan in the nationwide introduction of personalization centers which run TrackStar®, a comprehensive solution for data management and personalization of identity and travel documents.
The unmatched Swiss quality and track record of the company really made a difference.
