Single Sign on, strong identification, authentication and signature for 650+ e-services
Qatar is a Middle East state in the gulf region with a fast-growing population of nearly 2m people.
This thriving and influential country has been a pioneer in creating a modern and efficient public sector.
Central to Qatar's remodeling of government services is
Hukoomi, the official online information and e-services portal of the Government of Qatar.
Around 500 services are at the fingertips of those who work, live and visit Qatar.
Leveraging the national ID cards
As an Identity Provider, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) is a centerpiece to the transformation of eGovernment services.
Qatar decided to exploit the country's
national ID smart card capability of identification and authentication of citizens on its e-Government portal.
To improve the end user experience and broaden access to the portal, in early 2014, ictQatar introduced a solution for eGovernment services : Gemalto Government
Digital Identity Services.
Users can now digitally sign online documents and application forms by using their eID.
A simple mouse click at connection activates the secure authentication process. Once connected, the user can access any of the various online services thanks to Single Sign On.
Hukoomi 3 launch
In March 2017, the new generation of e-government portal Hukoomi 3 was launched. The new generation of e-government portal offers users over 650 different transactions from home and supports accessible all mobile phones, as tablets and desktops.
