Dubai, 22 May, 2017 Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, enabled Creditbank, one of Lebanon's leading and fastest growing banks, to be the first bank in the Middle East to offer its customers the benefits of a combined credit and debit card. Developed in close cooperation with local partner Unilux Cards, Gemalto's innovative solution has been deployed to launch the Combo EMV Card which offers Creditbank customers the convenience of carrying just one card and the flexibility to use the account of their choice when making a transaction.
The chip and PIN security feature is embedded in the Combo Card, and customers can choose one single PIN for both accounts. Dual interface capability provides users with the option of swift contactless payments.
"The launch of this card reflects Creditbank's commitment to innovative products and services to improve end-user experience," said Mrs. Hanadi Saad, Assistant General Manager of Creditbank. "Our partnership with Gemalto and Unilux Cards goes back over a decade, and it has provided the necessary insight, expertise and technology to achieve another premiere in the market".
"We are proud to help Creditbank be the first to launch this innovative solution, just after being the first to introduce the contactless sticker, a great step towards the future of mobile payment." said Ronald Nacouzi, Managing Director for Unilux Cards.
"Competition in the Middle East banking sector has never been fiercer, in particular with millennial customers demanding higher standards of service and innovation," said Nassir Ghrous, Senior Vice President Banking and Payment for Middle East at Gemalto. "With the support of Unilux Cards and Gemalto, Creditbank has provided the market with a unique payment card offer which attracts new business and reinforces brand loyalty".
